The Chinese civil war was fought between Kuomintang and communist party of china. Both sides wanted one thing, To control china. This led to China's division into two, China's Republic of China and peoples Republic of china in mainland. The war began in April of 1927 and ended when major active battles ceased in 1949-1950.There is still debate on weather the war has officially ended or not. The conflict continues in the form of military threats. This war was the 3rd largest war ever fought in history, behind WWI and WWII.
